The aspiration tubing of an oesophageal double-balloon probe is made of a transparent material and its internal width is enlarged to such an extent that an endoscope can be inserted into the interior of this tubing in order to monitor correct placement of the probe and to permit endoscopic diagnosis when the probe is in place.
