The convertible sofa comprises a backrest frame 38 and a first seat frame 37 which are hinged together and connected to the base 31 by a set of connecting rods 33, 34, 39, and a second seat frame 42 independent of the backrest frame. The second seat frame bears, at its lower face, slideways 43 which interact with rollers 40 borne by the first seat frame thereby allowing a telescopic assembly of the second seat frame 42. The slats 46, 48 borne respectively by the second seat frame and by the first seat frame are offset laterally with respect to each other in order to enable the second seat frame to move. The convertible sofa makes it possible to obtain a seat position with foot-rest. <IMAGE>
