<p>The invention relates to a method and a device for splitting or cleaving a rigid sawn product 10, especially wood, the modulus of elasticity of which is essentially circa 50,000 - 400,000 kg/cm2. A narrow tool having chip removal elements, especially a circular saw blade, cuts a slit 38 of final width into the sawn product 10 at a cutting speed of over ca. 40 m/s. A profiled wood element 12, after having passed the chip removal elements, will always be bent outwards 28 from the splitting level 11 and free from the left-behind part 13 of the sawn product 10. In order to avoid thermal effects in the tool caused by the friction between the profiled wood element and the tool, the profiled wood element will always be bent outwards in such a way that, after having left the chip removal elements, it remains at a distance from the circular saw blade 15. <IMAGE></p> |
