PURPOSE:To ensure holding of a long material and to facilitate manufacture of various kinds of products in small quantities, by a method wherein the long material is firmly secured by means of two reference surfaces, crossing each other at right angles, a press block, and a press block mounted to a moving block. CONSTITUTION:When a long material A of an aluminum sash makes contact with a positioning mechanism 5, the other end of a chain 2 is lowered by means of a cylinder 2g. The sash material A is placed on the rollers of a conveyor 1, and a plate 5d is raised by means off a cylinder 5b. After a cylinder 5e and a press member 5f are situated in the same level as that of a block 5c, the sash material A is held between the nip formed by guide rollers 5g and 5h with the aid of the cylinder 5e. Thereafter, a press plate 3f of the upper part of a body 3c is brought into contact with the rear end surface of the sash material A to convey the sash material A in the direction of a work table. When the sash material A approaches a plate 21, after the body 3c is stopped, the press plate 3f is moved forward to press the tip of the sash material A against the plate 21. A press block is vertically moved for regulation, and the sash material A is secured between protecting members.
