PURPOSE:To attain a still picture reproduction with excellent picture quality by reproducing an interpolation video signal or other one field alternately and repetitively at every field by the interpolation based on the non-interlace system from a video signal by 1 field supplied sequentially at every other field period. CONSTITUTION:The interpolated video signal is generated by the interpolation based on the non-interlace system from the video signal. That is, the video signal S1 of a prescribed field is reproduced as it is in a 1st field and the interpolated video signal S2 in a blank period by one field succeeding to the 1st field, that is, a 2nd field. Then the video signal S1 is reproduced in an odd number field and the interpolation video signal S2 is reproduced in an even number field. Thus, the image based on the video signal or the interpolated video signal by one filed nearly the same at all times is reproduced on the CRT and the still picture is reproduced.
