PURPOSE:To enable stable photometry under bad conditions, by providing a color sensor with a plurality of detector sections so arranged as to measure color simultaneously and independently. CONSTITUTION:A reference object 11 is measured with one 9b of two detector sections while an object 10 to be inspected with the other 9a thereof. The detector sections 9a and 9b are triggered simultaneously to ensure that both measurements are performed simultaneously in the time. Lights disturbed due to changes in an illumination light and a disturbing light happen to irradiate the object 10 being inspected and a reference object 11, but as detector sections 9a and 9b are so designed that the irradiation light alone is incident thereinto depending on an effective opening angle, the reflected lights from both the objects 10 and 11 are always changed at the same rate. So outputs of the detector 9b are inputted into a comparison/computation circuit 8 as reference value to be compared with an output of the detector 9a. Thus, actually measured values of the object 10 being inspected are corrected by variations caused in the reference object 11 thereby enabling the removal of effect on the measured values from variations in illumination light and any disturbing light.
