In a flat type cathode ray tube, electron beams (27) are vertically emitted from electron beam emitting sources (10) along vertical scanning electrodes (13) which have strip-shaped long configuration in horizontal direction and are each other insulatedly lined-up in vertical direction, and turn at predetermined position toward a phosphor screen (21) for vertically scanning and are horizontally focussed and deflected onto the phosphor screen (21) by horizontal focussing and deflection electrodes (17, 18 and 19).
