PURPOSE:To obtain a reaction product of coupling safely and in high yield, by oxidizing an aromatic compound by the use of a compound complex containing a complex capable of forming an oxygen complex and a platinum group complex as a catalyst under a mild condition without pressurizing. CONSTITUTION:In obtain a reaction product of coupling by oxidizing an aromatic compound (one having one aromatic ring containing H directly linked to nucleus C) in the presence of a catalyst, a compounded complex containing a complex (Mm.Xn.Ll) capable of forming an oxygen complex and a platinum group complex (M'm'.Xn'.Ll') (M is transition metal belonging to group I, group IV - group VII or iron group of group VIII; X is halogen, BF4<->, etc.; L is nitrile compound; M' is transition metal of Pt group; l and l' are number of coordination number) is used as the catalyst. A hydrocarbon is used as a solvent for the complex or the nitrile compound as a ligand is also used as the solvent. When Pd(OAc)2 is used as the complex catalyst of Pt group in the above-mentioned method, oxidation and regeneration of Pd(O) is efficiently carried out. |
