METHOD FOR REGULATING ULTRASONIC BEAM

PURPOSE:To simply regulate the intensity profile of ultrasonic beam, by regulating each lasting time of the electrical impulse applied to a piezoelectric element in order to set the intensity profile of the ultrasonic beam to a predetermined one. CONSTITUTION:A pulse generator 18 receiving a clock pulse through a line 21 transmits a transmission pulse corresponding to the trigger signal of a line 20. The output pulse of the generator 18 is supplied to a delay apparatus 16 to be delayed and generates output signals in output lines D1-Dm but said output signals are delayed each other. The output lines D1-Dm of the apparatus 16 are connected to a pulse width regulating apparatus 14 regulating the lasting time of the input pulse according to a predetermined beam profile. herein, the data relating to a predetermined beam shape is supplied to the apparatus 14 from a control apparatus 13 by a line 15. The output signal of the apparatus 14 is supplied to piezoelectric elements 1-n through a switch matrix 12, a driver unit 10 and a selection circuit 8. By this method, the intensity profile of ultrasonic beam can be simply regulated.
