The invention relates to a tyre vulcanising machine, in particular having a locking mechanism (breach lock mechanism) for the mutual bracing of an upper metal mould part and a lower metal mould part, reducing the number of parts, simplifying the construction and accomplishing a reduction in costs. This machine is characterised in that it has a lower metal mould part, which is secured on a base, an upper metal mould part, which is carried on a platen and can be set down on the lower mould part, an upper ring, which is set down rotatably about an external circumferential section of the platen and is provided at its lower end with claws, a lower ring, which is carried by the base in a perpendicularly displaceable manner and is provided at its upper end with claws, and a first drive unit for the rotating of the upper ring and a second drive unit for the perpendicular displacing of the lower ring, in that the claws of the upper ring and lower ring can be brought into and out of engagement with one another by corresponding turning of the upper ring and in that the upper mould part and lower mould part can be pressed against each other (pressurised) by lowering the lower ring when the claws of the upper ring and lower ring are in engagement with one another. In this arrangement, the claws on the upper ring and/or lower ring are preferably designed in a number of planes in each case, so that a point of engagement between upper ring and lower ring can be adjusted in a way corresponding to a respective overall height of upper mould part and lower mould part.
