The present invention relates to an improvement to the safety of installations for heating premises by recovery of hot air and it also relates to the means enabling this safety to be achieved. The installation includes at least one safety valve, 81, 82, and/or cool-air/hot-air mixing valve which is actuated automatically by a regulating member sensitive to the temperature of the air in the hood 2. The valve 81 contains a flap actuated by a bimetal strip in order to produce either a mixture of the hot air in the hood with cool air coming from outside, with the purpose of heating the premises via the inlet pipe 6, or a simple escape of the hot air. The valve 82 contains a flap directly in the form of a bimetal strip which allows the hot air to escape at a certain temperature. <IMAGE>
