A process for the production of lightweight elements, especially board-like elements, from a fabric and from a resin embedded in the fabric, and an apparatus for carrying out this process are proposed. In these, a plurality of warp threads is supplied by two double counts engaging in one another opposite to one another and located in a first position. Subsequently, a weft cross-thread is alternately guided, in a plane orthogonal to the planes of the warp threads, around the warp threads of one warp-thread plane and of the other warp-thread plane. Thereafter, the two warp-thread planes are shot through by separate weft threads, to form a respective part fabric in each of the warp-thread planes spaced from one another in a predeterminable way, the said part fabrics being connected to one another by means of the weft cross-thread. To design a three-dimensional fabric, the penultimate and the last step are successively repeated in any number, with a respective alternation of the double combs between the first and a second position. Finally, a resin in the form of a thin layer (film) is blown through the fabric obtained, essentially only the crossing points of the threads and the threads themselves being wetted. <IMAGE>
