The present invention relates to devices for drying materials. The device according to the invention is essentially characterised in that it includes a longitudinal conduit 3 comprising an inlet 4 and an outlet 5 and, in succession between this inlet and this outlet, means 6 for filtering the ambient air, controllable means 9 for heating the filtered air, means 12 for sucking in and for blowing the heated filtered air in order to force it into a chamber 13 defined in the conduit, the chamber being capable of containing the wood 2 to be dried, and means 16 for extracting and expelling the air contained in the chamber, these means being located at the outlet of the conduit. Application: device for drying wood in particular, directly at the cutting sites. <IMAGE>
