PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of magnetic field generating parts which generate a magnetic flux toward the surface of a drum by forming contact parts which come into contact with the drum surfaces to both sides of the magnetic field generating parts in such a manner that the magnetic field generating parts part from the surface of the magnetic drum by a specified spacing. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic head 10 is constituted by curving a surface 12 facing the magnetic drum 100. The many head units 14 are arrayed in one row in the axial direction of the drum 100 in such a manner that the respective magnetic field generating parts 14a are positioned in the central part of the curved surface 12. The contact parts 16 consisting of a material such as carbon or 'Teflon(R)' having lubricity or slidability are provided to both end parts of the surface 12 on both sides of the magnetic field generating parts 14a. The radius Rh of curvature of the curved surface 12 is selected smaller than the radius Rd of curvature of the magnetic drum 100. Scanning is executed at the time of access while the contact parts 16 on both sides come into contact with the drum surface and the magnetic field generating parts 14a in the central part are parted by the specified spacing from the drum surface and, therefore, the possibility of damaging the magnetic field generating parts 14a is eliminated and the generated recording magnetic fields are maintained constant. |
