A method of applying an orthodontic wire bracket which is affixed to at least one of a row of teeth with an adhesive. A cast is made of the row of teeth (2). The bracket (4) is brought into the desired shape on the cast (1), and temporarily secured in position. Over the cast with bracket, a layer of permanently resilient material is applied, which is deformed to conform to the shape of the cast to form a mould (6). The mould with the bracket embedded therein is removed from the mould. The bracket is temporarily removed from the mould, the mould is provided with perforations (5) at the desired locations, which correspond to the shape and dimensions of the adhesive receiving places, the bracket is repositioned in the mould, and the perforations are filled with adhesive. The mould with the bracket embedded therein and adhesive applied is then placed on, and over, the row of teeth and pressed into contact with them. Any excess of adhesive pressed out of the perforations is removed, and the pressure is maintained until the adhesive has set on the row of teeth and secures the bracket relatively to the row of teeth. The mould is then removed, leaving the bracket affixed to the row of teeth.
|
