The invention concerns a process and a device for measuring the concentration of a gas in gaseous mixture. The simultaneous use of the spectral position of the absorption band and of the interferometric signal in the neighbourhood of the path difference DELTA C = 1/p corresponding to the periodicity p constitutes a two-component spectral signature which permits highly reliable identification. The invention proposes the use of a third criterion in conjunction with the two above-mentioned criteria, namely the exact position of the zero value of the variable part of the spectral signal.
