In the method of binding the splitting dust in block-splitting machines, a fine spray is sprayed onto the splitting area for a quite definite period of time from directly before the start of the splitting of the workpiece until at least directly after the splitting-up into the split pieces. The arrangement for carrying out the method includes a spraying device (21) with spraying nozzles (22), the spray jet (33) of which is directed onto the cutting area of the splitting chisels (15). The spraying device (22) is fed by a feed device (26) for the spraying medium. The feed device (26) is actuated by a control device (29) as a function of the working cycle of the block-splitting machine (10). <IMAGE>
