This apparatus comprises two mutually opposite identical assemblies (6a, 6b) and each comprising two piezoelectric blocks (8a, 8b; 12a, 12b) rigidly secured to each other and capable of being deformed respectively along two perpendicular directions. According to the manufacturing method, each block is obtained by stacking piezoelectric plates arranged so as to permit an overall deformation of the block. Each assembly may be provided with identical V grooves (18a, 18b) permitting the said connection when the fibres or the fibre and the diode are placed therein, by optimisation of the optical coupling. The apparatus also permits, by such an optimisation, the connection of two visible core fibres fixed to appropriate small plates which are themselves mounted on the elements, with a view to obtaining an X coupler. <IMAGE>
