A cooled plunger for internal combustion engines has mutually separated piston head (1) and piston shaft. The cooling oil is injected into an outer annular space (3) in the piston head (1) and shaken by means of oil-collecting pockets (4a, 4b, 9) arranged within the annular space (3) at the upper end of the piston shaft. In order to uniformly distribute the desired cooling effect of the piston head around its circumference, the cooling oil-collecting pockets (4a, 4b) are designed with different sizes. The asymmetric design of opposite collecting pockets (4a, 4b) allows the larger collecting pocket (4b) to extend beyond the inner radius of the maximum dimension of the hub (6) at the level of the piston pin in the direction of compression-counterpressure in the mounting position of the piston shaft (2). |
