Automatic collision-avoidance signalling method intended for vehicles using the road network and a device for implementing it. In each vehicle, a device 2 is connected by a line 1 to the original battery of the vehicle, and comprises an input and isolating stage 3, a charging device 4 for an emergency battery 6. A line 5, internal to the devices, provides the power supply. A line 8 controls a central flashing unit 7 and a commutator 10. The device comprises an optional line to an impact detector. In the event of failure of the original battery of the vehicle, the line 8, internal to the device, turns on the central flashing unit and, via the commutator 10, powers the line 12 to the vehicle's (external) light bulbs using the emergency battery 6. <IMAGE>
