The device, esp. for use in fabric mending machines which make the cut by means of a wire through which is passed a current controlled by an electronic circuit, has a yarn suction device consisting of a compressor and electro-valve connected to a timer which in turn is connected to a pedal. This, on being activated, produces the cut and the yarn suction at the same time. - The electronic circuit includes two branches of variable resistors which are connected to a relay so that the first branch is always selected until the pedal is pressed, which selects the second branch and activates the timer and the electro-valve during the timed interval. The second branch incorporates a pressure contact which prevents selection of this branch when the suction pressure is insufficient.
