The single engine drives both the drive shaft for the front wheels and that for the rear wheels. A hydraulic pump is driven through the speed difference of the two drive shafts and provides a servo pressure to change the transmission from four wheel drive to two wheel drive. The pump is driven in either direction to provide the servo pressure and the two wheel drive is applied to either front or rear wheels.
