<p>The present invention provides an acoustic filter microphone cup (10) which holds a microphone (14) and is shaped to form an acoustic filter for the microphone. The acoustic filter microphone cup (10) includes a housing (12a, 12b) which holds the microphone (14). The acoustic filter (10) comprises an interior air cavity (26) located at the front of the microphone (14) in acoustic communication therewith and a sound port (28) which provides acoustic communication between the exterior of the housing (12a, 12b) and the interior air cavity (26). The dimensions of the acoustic filter are preselected such that the microphone provides a predetermined frequency response wherein the shape of the frequency response is determined by the size of the air cavity (26) and sound port (28). The use of an acoustic filter means eliminates the need for conventional electronic filtering components.</p> |
