<p>A medical device for the transfer of substances, comprising a cylindrical housing (1), a hollow fiber bundle of a multiplicity of hollow fiber membranes (5) for transfer of the substances and inserted within the aforementioned housing, a first substance transfer chamber (8) defined by the outer surfaces of the aforementioned hollow fiber membranes and the inner wall surfaces of the aforementioned housing, first substance transferring inlet (9) and outlet (10) both communicating with the aforementioned first substance transfer chamber, partitions (6,7) supporting the opposite ends of the aforementioned hollow fiber membranes fast in position and separating them from the aforementioned substance transfer chamber, and second substance transferring fluid inlet (25) and outlet (26) communicating with the cavities within the aforementioned hollow fiber membranes and formed with flow path forming members (11,12) attached to the opposite ends of the aforementioned housing and provided each with an annular protuberance (21,22), which device is characterized by having the aforementioned flow path forming members and the aforementioned partitions fastened to each other by sealing the interfacial gaps therebetween with a packing material (31,32) applied to the outer edges of the aforementioned protuberances of the flow path forming members so as to contact the packing material with the partitions.</p> |
