The invention relates to a pen capable of memorizing the signature of its owner, of recognizing it during use of the pen for signing, and of validating it for a third party. The pen includes a rod 4 articulated on the upper part. An electrical termination 3 fixed to the rod 4 bears on a second termination 2 fixed to the pen. A movement of the pen, while the rod 4 adheres to the signature plane, defines a succession of electrical contacts between the two terminations 2 and 3. The information thus sent is processed electronically. It generates a light, audible or electrical signal. The pen according to the invention is intended for payment by credit card, for payment by telephone as a reliable means of identification, for writing on a computer without a keyboard, and for simple identification when associated with an identity card. <IMAGE>
