A high voltage switching element is made by sintering the mixing powder of 96mol.% zinc oxide and 4mol.% manganese fluoride, and has 600V operating voltage, 10mA operating current and no more than 20msec. switching time. This invention has the advantages of the simple manufacturing process, widely adjustable voltage according to sintering temperatures and element thicknesses, and application of the switching element as temperature detector.
