The grips are formed by segments (21) of metal spheres held in pivot mountings in recesses. Grip material (5') inside the segments touches the road and causes the grips to tilt when slip occurs. The edges of the segments touches the road and grips. The swivel mounting is provided by a ball and socket joint with the socket in the end of a split construction screw insert (41a-d) for simple fitting. The grip is further braced by elastic surrounds (81). USE/ADVANTAGE - Vehicle tyres, ice grips for shoes, do not damage road surface, only active when slipping, easily replaced.
