PURPOSE:To improve the sensitivity, the gradation and the graininess of the title emulsion by incorporating a tabular particle contg. a silver halide phase having specified content and distribution of AgI in a prescribed amount, in the emulsion. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide photographic emulsion is composed of a dispersion medium and a silver halide particle, and is composed of the silver halide tabular particle in which >=50% of a total projected area of the particle has an average aspect ratio of more than (2:1). And, the particle contains the silver halide phase having >=3mol.% AgI, and the distribution of AgI contd. in the particle is completely uniform. And, the composition of the tabular particle may be composed of silver iodobromide, etc., and the position of a silver iodide phase within the particle may be in the center or over the whole or in the outside of the particle. And, the phase may be constituted of a single layer or plural layers. |
