The method for preparing -alylalkanoic acid, useful for pharmacetucials, and its precursors is presented. Thus, 4.2g of 2- bromo-1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)propane-1-on, 8.2g of sodium methoxide and 50ml of methanol were mixed at room temp. for 1hr. The above mixture was added to water, and extracted by ether. The ether extracts were dried with magnesium sulfate to obtain 1, 1dimethoxy-1- [6-meltoxy-2-naphthyl propane-2-ol.
