Plant for the continuous production of charcoal - using closed loop of containers transported through heated, inclined tunnels by a mechanical conveyor system

The plant comprises a kiln into which protrudes the lower end of at least one inclined tunnel. The dimensions of the tunnels allow 3 closed containers full of wood to be converted into charcoal, to be placed in single file, transported by a chain, or roller conveyor system. As each container emerges from the door in the lower end of the tunnel it is taken by the same conveyor system in a closed loop, through a cooling-unit before the load of charcoal is emptied into the hopper and the container is refilled with wood from the reloading point prior to reentering the inclined tunnel at its upper end. USE/ADVANTAGE - Production of charcoal is a continuous, rather than a batch process. A higher yield of charcoal per unit of feedstock is obtained, whilst at the same time the closed containers prevent the emission of tars and other atmospheric pollutants.
