A process for firing ceramic shaped bodies (14) comprises the steps of placing the ceramic shaped bodies (14) on a truck (10) and firing the shaped bodies with a combustion gas. Shield members (22) are arranged on the truck so that a jet stream of the combustion gas will not directly contact the ceramic shaped bodies (14) and that a path for the combustion gas jet stream is formed on the truck. The shield member (22) may be obliquely divided into two sections at the central portion thereof.
