A conveying apparatus (1) for transport hooks (3) suspended on an overhead track (2) comprises a conveying chain (5) which runs inside a conveying rail (4) arranged above the overhead track (2), to which conveying chain (5) driver elements (6) for the transport hooks (3) are fastened. The driver elements (6) have, on their underside, a sliding section (60) and a recess (62) for grasping at least one transport hook (3) and, on their end face situated at the front in the conveying direction, a run-on incline (64) for running onto transport hooks lying in the waiting position. The conveying chain (5) is, in this arrangement, arranged inside the conveying rail (4) at a vertical distance from the base of the conveying rail (4) so that it can deflect upwardly when the driver elements (6) run onto the transport hooks (3). <IMAGE>
