The invention relates to a compensator (1) for compensating for the changes in length of plastic pipes (8, 10), having two end regions (2, 3) which are adapted to the shape of the pipes and can be connected to the adjacent ends (7, 9), and having an expansion/compression region (4) which is located therebetween and is connected integrally to the end regions (2, 3). The object of the invention is to provide a compensator which, even in the case of relatively high temperature-change loadings and/or extremely corrosive fluids, ensures permanent leaktightness and durability at the pipe-connection locations. This object is essentially achieved according to the invention in that the two end regions (2, 3) are of an annular pipe shape, which is similar geometrically to the ends (7, 9) of the pipes (8, 10) to be connected, and have a rough inner and outer surface (6, 5), it being possible in each case for one surface (5 or 6) of one end region (2, 3) to be connected to one surface (11, 12) or (15, 16) of the facing pipe end (7, 9) by means of an adhesive (13) and for the surface (15, 16) or (11, 12), of said end region (2, 3), which is still exposed to be covered over, and likewise connected, by means of a laminate (14). <IMAGE>
