PURPOSE:To obtain the title vessel having superior thermal shock resistance and durability, causing no unfavorable reaction with a phosphor and effectively preventing the deterioration of the characteristics of the phosphor by using SiC as the material of the vessel. CONSTITUTION:SiC powder having about 10mum particle size and <=0.5wt.% metallic Si content is mixed with a sintering assistant such as carbon and molded into a desired crucible shape. This molded body is degreased and sintered at 2,000-2,200 deg.C under ordinary pressure to obtain a vessel for heat- treating a phosphor having >=80% porosity and 2.0-2.5g/cm<3> density. |
