Method of growing lilies, comprising growing a lily bulblet (10) directly into a lily plant (22), which could be initiated to flowering.
In a preferred embodiment the period of time of growing the bulblet into the lily plant is less than one year.
Short day conditions are used for growing the bulblet and/or young plant; long day conditions for growing the plant.
The plant growing according to the invention has more leaves (12) and the circumference of its bulb is less than that of the plant growing according to the prior art.
