<p>This invention relates to a biopsy forcep for use in a flexible fiberoptic bronchoscope. More particularly, this invention is directed to a biopsy forcep having an increased range of operability when used in conjunction with the flexible fiberoptic bronchoscope when obtaining tissue samples such as smooth growths in the trachea or main stem bronchii. Specifically, the invention includes a flexible catheter (45), a forcep cup assembly (46) attached to the catheter distal end via first (59) and second (41) hinges, components (42, 43) attached to the catheter proximal end for controlling the first (59) and second (41) hinges. The first hinge (59) controls opening and closing of the forcep cup assembly (46) and the second hinge (41) controls articulation of the portion of the biopsy forcep including the forcep cup assembly (46) and the first hinge (59).</p> |
