Provided in the present invention are a method to obtain and determine a system message, and terminal device thereof, and the method and terminal are used for solving the problem of high power consumption of the terminal device caused by the mode to obtain the system message in prior art. The method comprises: the terminal device receives DCI transmitted from a base station, and decodes the received DCI; the terminal device determines whether to read the system message sent from the base station or not according to a decoding result of the DCI, or according to the decoding result for the DCI together with a first condition. Thus, the terminal device does not need to read the system message in each paging period, reducing the number of times to read the system message, thereby reducing the power consumption of the terminal device, and extend the standby time of the terminal device. Besides, through this system message obtaining mechanism, whether to trigger the obtaining if the system message is determined according to the DCI decoding result, ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of obtaining system message. |
