The selection switch for selecting the resistance value from 0 to 1x10n where n is constant with only one contact has 4 types of resistor and switch combinations. The first one is a combination of 10 switch and series connection of 1,1,2,1,2,3 resistors. The second one has a resistor series connection of 1,1,1,2,1,4 . The third one has a resistor series connection of 1,1,1,1,1,5 . The fourth one has a resistor series connection of 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1 . Each type includes 10 switch connected in parallel and serial to the resistor element such that the desired resistance value is selected with only one closing action from the switch.
