<p>An erasable programmable read only memory is arranged to be written only once and provides three memory areas. A first code represents the card holder's name, a second code represents the expiry data, a third code represents the number of retry operations which can be allowed when incorrect data are entered. In response to a signal from a system controller, the write controller for the EPROM sends data on the bus to the first area of the EPROM. Two codes from a second area are passed through a first selector to a second selector.</p> |
