A valve assembly, comprising a valve (10) and a valve operator (11), and, for example, to be mounted fixedly within a structure, and in particular a sub-sea structure, such as a submerged well-head, is adapted to be combined with a co-operating valve actuator (30), and/or to have a co-operating valve actuator replaced, by employing only remotely-controlled transporting and manipulative means. Thus, there is a first arrangement in which both the valve operator (11) is engaged with, but is detachable from, the piston stem (35), and the valve body (12) is engaged with, but is detachable from, the actuator housing (31), for example, by relative linear movement between the valve assembly and the actuator. In a second arrangement both the valve operator (11) is secured to the piston stem (35), and the valve body (12) is secured to the actuator housing (31), for example, by relative rotation between the valve assembly and the actuator, and from said first, to said second, arrangement. During such a securing action, or an opposite, releasing action, the valve operator (11) may be locked at a predetermined position, by means (25, 26, 27) which is undisturbed by attachment, and detachment, of the actuator, respectively, to, and from, the valve assembly. |
