INFORMATION RECORDING MEDIUM AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To improve the mechanical characteristics of the air sandwich type information recording medium and to improve the impact characteristics thereof by using a resin of the same kind as the resin to constitute the disk substrates of the recording medium for the spacers of the recording medium and forming the disk substrates of a resin having the viscosity average mol.wt. larger than the viscosity average mol.wt. of the resin constituting the disk substrates. CONSTITUTION:The information recording medium of the air sandwich type is constituted by disposing the disk substrate 2a which has the recording layer 3a on one surface and has a hole part 4a and the disk substrate 2b which has the recording layer 3b on one surface and has a hole part 4b in such a manner that the recording layers 3a and 3b face each other. The outer and inner peripheral parts of such disk substrates 2a, 2b are joined respectively via the annular outer peripheral spacer 5 and the annular inner peripheral spacer 6 to form a space 7 between the disk substrates 2a and 2b. The resin which constitutes the pacers 5 and 6 is the same kind of the resin as the resin which constitutes the disk substrates 2a and 2b; in addition, this resin is the resin having the viscosity average mol.wt. higher than the viscosity average mol.wt. of the resin which constitutes the disk substrates 2a and 2b. The resin having 1.3 to 2.0 times higher viscosity average mol.wt. is more preferable.
