A cylindrical or frusto-conical post is made by assembling a reinforcement framework comprising a plurality of longitudinally extending rods 3 distributed around a central axis, the ends of the rods engaging with respective annuli 12 at each end of the framework, each end of each rod being provided with a region of reduced cross section which engages with a notch 11 formed in the periphery of the corresponding annulus; placing a thin walled sleeve 1 over the reinforcement framework so formed; and filling the sleeve, along substantially its entire length, with synthetic binding material, thereby casting the synthetic material around the reinforcement framework. A stage may mount a plurality of the reinforcement and sleeve units in an inclined position whilst they are filled from the lower end. The posts may be pre-tensioned. <IMAGE> |
