Production of dental prostheses, for example covers, inlays and onlays of partial restorations, involves (a) applying a slurry of alumina, water and binder-forming additives to a model; (b) consolidating the layer by treatment at 1050-1150 deg.C to achieve sintering without shrinkage by condensn.-evapn.; and finally consolidating without shrinkage by heat treatment at 1050-1150 deg.C in the presence of a glass which infiltrates the pores in the layer. Entirely ceramic prosthese with good aesthetic and mechanical properties and bio-compatibility are produced at low cost. |
