Servo steering for vehicle - has recirculating ball race with return track in plug inert in side of servo piston

The servo piston (3) is threaded on a threaded spindle (5) attached to the steering column, via a recirculating ball race in which the return path of the balls is through the piston. The return track is secured by a plug (17) into a radial bore (14) in the outside of the piston, with the plug held in the bore by a radial spring clip (16). The spring clip is located on a lipped flange of the plug and with a sealing ring (20) in the plug bore. A hollow guide in the plug groove feeds the return path of the balls. USE/ADVANTAGE - Secure retention of plug, no scoring of servo cylinder walls.
