A decorative foil for covering of flat or profiled articles comprises a base layer of elastic polymer film coated on the upper side with a 20-100 micrometre thick layer of an acrylate copolymer modified with (w.r.t. acrylate copolymer) 20-80 wt% of a polyurethane obtd. by reacting ca. equiv. amts. w.r.t. reactive gps. of a hydroxy-functional polyacrylate with an OH equiv. wt. of 200-600 with a polyisocyanate having an NCO-equiv. wt. of 150-230. USE/ADVANTAGE - The decorative foils have good resistance to UV, moisture and rapid changes in temp., good chemical resistance, high resistance to scratching, high elasticity and deformability, good processability at relatively low temps. and good bonding properties to the substrate to be covered. The foils can be applied by the coil coating process. The foils can be bonded e.g. to metal sheet, plastics, wood panels, fibre cement sheets, plastics profiles, e.g. for window frames and door frames, building facing panels etc. The films may be clear or pigmented and may be bonded to the substrate prior to shaping of this.
