The object of the present invention is to facilitate the positioning and shaping of hair which is particularly straight (stiff) or short. The invention includes a body 1 with a gripping part 2 and an active working part 3 equipped with two branches A and B arranged opposite and capable of being brought together angularly with respect to each other. The periphery of one of these branches A is equipped with means M for closely interacting with the hair with a view to the latter hooking on in a firm manner without being blocked. The other branch B, of curved and perforated form, which is smooth on its outer peripheral part, comes, in liaison with the gripping part, to be placed on the means M of the first branch in order to match a part of its perimeter. The aim of this active working part B is to pinch the hair between these two elements A and B with a view, and by being combined with a heating action, to obtaining in respect of the hair bearing on the support 3A an impression of rounded form, and the means M of which cooperate in maintaining the positioning of the lock of hair. A rotation movement after pinching of the two branches makes it possible rapidly to obtain a curly effect. The branch 3A may have various cross sections, the branch 3B matching a part of its periphery. <IMAGE>
