The heat exchanger vent pipe (3), is esp. for a heater in a vehicle cooling circuit, extends from an upper region of the heater inlet (1) to an expansion vessel (9), where it ends beneath the coolant surface (10). A valve (7) in the vent line allows the through flow to be varied. Pref. the valve opening decreases as the heater flow increases. USE/ADVANTAGE - Heat exchanger in vehicle. Gas bubbles collecting in the heater are removed without unduly affecting the heater performance.
