PURPOSE:To enable a device to be used for multiple purposes and to realize low cost by using properly the device whether or not password collation is performed with a password recorded on a prepaid card, and discriminating whether the password collation is performed with password input from a key pad or a cash register based on the presence/absence of the connection of the key pad. CONSTITUTION:The device is comprised of a prepaid card reader/writer 1 as a transaction device and the cash register 2 as a host device, and a password input part 3 to which the password is inputted, etc., is connected to the latter, and the key pad 20 as a password input means is provided attachably/detachably freely at the former. When it is judged that the password collation is performed by the password and the password input means 20 is connected, the collation of the password inputted with the password input means 20 with that stored in advance is performed. Also, when no password input means 20 is connected, the password is requested to the host device 2, and it is collated with the password stored in advance. Thereby, it is possible to realize the reduction of a price and to eliminate limitation on the input method of the password. |
