Paper web contactless drying - uses thermal energy from recovered coolant air from infrared dryer for under side of floating dryer

The drying of a web of paper or cardboard, without contact, using drying zones for infra-red radiation, uses recovered thermal energy from the coolant air of the infra-red dryer wholly as heating energy for the side of the floating dryer facing the opposite side of the web to the coated wet side. The side of the dryer facing the wet coated side of the web has a channel (1) to take cold and pref. dry air as the blown carrier (1) for the dryer. The thermal energy from the recovered coolant air from the infra-red dryer is passed wholly to the lower side (2) of the floating dryer, or the evaporation capacity is increased by about 40% by passing this thermal energy to both sides (1,2) of the floating dryer. ADVANTAGE - The productivity of the paper coating appts. is increased, without significant captical expenditure, and energy a costs are reduced.
