ON SCREEN DISPLAY METHOD AND DEVICE USING TELETEXT DISPLAY FUNCTION

The method for displaying the on-screen function without using an on-screen display (OSD) IC comprises; (a) applying the enable signal of a microcomputer (10) at a remote controller to an interrupt tap of a CPU (13) at a teletext receiver for requiring the OSD function; (b) when the interrupt is for the OSD, a serial/ parallel converter (12) is turned to the enable state for reading the corresponding data; (c) reading the fonr corresponding to the read data; and (d) displaying the character through a display controller (14) on the screen. The method may simplify the circuit because the OSD function is performed by using the existing overwriting function and the fonts in the ordinary teletext receiver.
